The Turkish Airlines flights between Istanbul and Luxor have now commenced. They leave Istanbul on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, late in the evening. They leave Luxor on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Monday very early in the morning.
There are many connections available at Istanbul, including flights from London (Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted), Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin. Some of these may involve a wait of several hours at Istanbul when flying to Luxor but the connections for the return leg are fairly tight. Luggage allowance appears to be one bag of 30kg plus an item of hand baggage. When booking, make sure that you do not have to change airport at Istanbul, and that the ticket is not flagged as "self-transfer". Hotel Sheherazade will be pleased to provide a taxi transfer between the hotel and airport - enquiries to [email protected] If you have used these routes please let me know how you got on. Other flights into Luxor, apart from the daily ones from Cairo, include flights from London Heathrow (Monday: Egyptair), Madrid (Saturday: AlMasria, Monday: AlMasria and Egyptair), Paris (Saturday: ASL France), Milan-Bologna (Thursday: Neos), Brussels (Thursday: TU I) and various flights from Kuwait, Jeddah and Madinah. Obviously the flights available may change at any time, but I will try to let you know of any major changes via this Blog. Brian ([email protected])
